Sandee Mendelson, a pediatric ED trauma nurse shares in a TED Talk format the unseen realities of nursing. She brings to light the cost of caring from an insider’s view of our selfless profession.  After the 11 min video special guest, Carla Pendley, will tell us about her daughter and their journey. We will then move into our panelists discussion which we are super excited to have these nurse leaders, nursing experts on our topic.

Sarah Schirmer serves as a Assistant Professor at University of Louisville School of Nursing from 2019 to the present. Her expertise is in psychiatric and mental health advanced nursing practice and research.

Sheila Schuster PhD

Executive Director of the Kentucky Mental Health Coalition

Sheila Schuster, PhD. is a licensed clinical psychologist who received her graduate degrees in Psychology from Purdue University and the University of Louisville. For over twenty years, she was a child clinical psychologist in private practice in Louisville, providing psychological services and consultation to youth, families, schools, courts, and community agencies. Dr. Schuster is currently the Executive Director of the Kentucky Mental Health Coalition which was founded in 1982 and is comprised of nearly 70 mental health/substance abuse/human services organizations representing consumers, family members, advocates, service agencies and providers.

Susan Rogers MA, BS

President - Chloe's Petals for Hope

Susan Rogers serves as a Mental Health Advocate with Chole’s Petals of Hope from 2020 to present. She is the founder, president, and marketer of suicide and mental health awareness non-profit.

Coordinator of the Second Degree Option; Instructor; Classroom and Clinical - University of Kentucky College of Nursing

Lee Anne Walmsley PhD, MSN, RN Lee Anne Walmsley is an assistant professor, director of work-life and student wellness and military & veteran student liaison at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. She has more than 40 years of clinical and academic experience. Lee Anne has a doctorate in nursing, a Doctor of Education, a Master of Science, and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the UK.
